The natural and synthetic resins produced by the HARRPA members are introduced in the compositions based on rubbers (as natural rubber or SBR) and/or thermoplastic elastomers ( as styrene block copolymer or EPDM). Indeed, the low molecular weight polymers with a high softening point (in general) have an excellent compatibility with a variety of nonpolar or polar elastomers.
Thanks to this degree of compatibilization, the introduction of our resin products in rubber and thermoplastic elastomer compounds enables to:
- have a good tackifying property
- improve the processability of compounds produced by Rubber Industry
- enhance some physical properties (as tensile strength or elongation at break), as well as some performance balances of rubber and thermoplastic elastomer compounds
Applications: rubber compounds for Tire and Mechanicals Rubber Goods (hose, belts, …), shoe sole, and floors.
Resins (like rosin soaps) are also used as processing aids in few elastomer production.
