The CLP Regulation 1272/2008 regulates the classification and labelling of chemicals in the EU. The purpose of the CLP is that hazards of chemicals are unambiguously identified. The classification is based on validated test methods and independent selection criteria.

All hazards should be communicated to workers and consumers. People working with chemicals should be aware of the effects that these chemicals can have before they use them.

The CLP Regulation is also applicable to Rosin resins and hydrocarbon resins. Users can consult the Safety Data Sheets of their suppliers for the classification of the resin.

For substances requiring a self-classification (because exempted of REACH for instance or not yet Registered) members have proposed classification through HARRRPA statement. So HARRPA is contributing to this objective of harmonization of classification for substances.
